Amy White (Fowler), Licensed Clinical Social Worker

“I know in each moment, I’m free to decide.” - Anonymous

This quote is something that stuck with me since the first day my father said the words to me. While I’m not entirely sure who said it first, I make sure to always pass along this daily mantra that has shaped my life. Ever since I was twelve years old, I knew I wanted to work in a field that helped people. Throughout the years following, my heart became set on becoming a therapist. I was amazed by all the things a therapist could do and how they could help someone help themselves, provide a supportive and safe space, and facilitate explorations into challenging situations. I fell in love with social work as a career because I enjoyed helping individuals and families make positive and achievable changes in their lives.

In 2015, I earned my Bachelor’s in Social Work with a minor in Psychology. I was given many opportunities for experience in different areas of work including in-home services, working with individuals struggling with homelessness, children and adolescents in group homes and shelters, individuals who have been or have family members who have experienced sexual assault, sexual violence, domestic violence, and individuals who have experienced various types of trauma.

I later earned my Masters in Social Work in 2019. During and after this time, I gained experience in working with individuals experiencing various levels of mental health and many different mood disorders and individuals struggling with eating disorders. I have over 2.5 years of experiencing working in clinical therapy settings and over 6 years of working in the social work field.

I understand it can be challenging, and maybe even scary, to take the first step and share that you may need support; I am here for you, and you are not alone. I will walk alongside you, your child, or your family through the darkness. I will help you see how to pull back up and guide you through, allowing yourself to find hope. You deserve to live a life without things that hold you back, pull you down, or leave you in the dark. Whether this is an eating disorder that has stopped you from enjoying life or made you see yourself differently than how others see it, anxiety that has caused you to feel you cannot take a chance, or depression that has made you feel as though there is no way to cope, I want to work with you to help find and understand your true self. Therapy is identifying what needs to change, taking those steps, and working to meet your goals. Together, let’s take this journey.

I am currently accepting new clients with my primary focuses being in trauma, anxiety, relationship issues, family dynamics, depression, and eating disorders. I approach each client in an individualized and client-centered approach where I meet you where you are at and work with you on things you want to and need to work on. I utilize different approaches, interventions, lenses, and theoretical frameworks to help meet your needs. I work with individuals struggling with eating disorders through a Health At Every Size and All Foods Fit aligned approach. I have experience working with people while utilizing Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Family Systems Therapy, and many other frameworks. Whatever your needs are, I want to find the best way to support you.

I can provide virtual therapy in Delaware, Massachusetts, and Virginia.
